Our online lean certification program will equip participants with targeted technical and facilitation/team leadership competencies in Lean Management. Participants will learn how to apply each of the principles and tools of lean including Value Stream Mapping, Continuous Flow Manufacturing Cells, Lean Production Control, Level Pull Production, kanban and pull systems, 5S, quick changeover, TPM, problem solving methods, daily kaizen, and kaizen events.
Advance your operational excellence with the Certified Lean Practitioner Course—a comprehensive, self-paced online program that mirrors the full curriculum of our classroom training. Designed to build mastery in lean principles, this course features engaging audio-visual lessons, practical case studies, and direct application of tools that reinforce meaningful, measurable improvement.
Each participant will complete an A3 problem-solving project, applying lean methodologies to real-world challenges for a hands-on, transformative learning experience.
Learners have access to experienced instructors for feedback, guidance, and support throughout the course. With flexible pacing and up to 12 months to complete the training, participants will graduate as Certified Lean Practitioners—equipped with a lean manufacturing certificate and 6 Continuing Education Units (CEUs). Course Objectives
The Certified Lean Practitioner course provides a practical foundation in Lean thinking, process improvement, and structured problem solving. Participants learn how to identify waste, improve flow, support continuous improvement, and apply Lean tools through practical assignments and a capstone A3 project.
Covers the fundamentals of Lean thinking, including Lean principles, the Seven Wastes, respect for people, and the importance of eliminating non-value-added activity.
Introduces current state and future state mapping, including examples and case assignments for manufacturing, administrative, and healthcare processes.
Covers standardized work, production leveling, and basic SPC concepts that support process stability and repeatable performance.
Focuses on team facilitation, brainstorming, problem definition, root cause analysis, PDCA, mistake proofing, daily kaizen, the Improvement Kata, and an introduction to Training Within Industry.
Covers how to plan and execute kaizen events, including examples and a practical case assignment.
Introduces the 5S system: Sort, Set in Order, Shine, Standardize, and Sustain, along with common implementation and sustainment challenges.
Covers Total Productive Maintenance, Overall Equipment Effectiveness, autonomous maintenance, SMED, and quick changeover techniques.
Explores flow concepts, manufacturing cell design, material delivery to cells, operator balance charts, simple automation, jidoka, and a cell design case assignment.
Covers kanban systems, inventory management, trigger point calculations, supplier pull systems, Plan for Every Part, and related case assignments.
Focuses on Lean implementation strategy, metrics, strategy deployment, leader standard work, Lean daily management, Lean culture, and extending Lean to suppliers and partners.
Introduces Lean concepts in product development, including customer requirements, Quality Function Deployment, design for manufacturability, knowledge wastes, set-based concurrent engineering, and trade-off curves.
The course includes practical assignments and culminates in an A3 problem-solving project, allowing participants to apply Lean tools to a real-world improvement opportunity. Participants have up to 12 months to complete the program and receive a Certified Lean Practitioner certificate along with 6 CEUs.
